Hey, and welcome back to Never Stop Fitness, Where fitness is not a program, but a lifestyle and we don’t stop, no matter what! We are the #1 Baltimore Weight Loss Center and our goal is to help you finally reach your goal this year! This is the time of year where I hear every excuse in the book!
With the holidays quickly approaching it will become easier and easier to miss your workouts. Don’t let this happen to you! Did you know that the average American gains about 10-12 lbs between Thanksgiving and Christmas making weight loss that much harder for the new year? Did you know that more than 2/3rds of Americans don’t exercise on a regular basis?
There was an informal study done by A.C.E. (American Council on Exercise) on what the most popular excuses for weight loss and missing a workout or not even exercising to begin with.
Here are the Top 5:
1. No Time- Really means “it’s not a priority”. It’s like the saying goes, “You have time for what you want to have time for and you have money for what you want to have money for”. The last time I looked we all get 24 hours every day! So it really isn’t a time issue. It’s about, how bad you want it. How much are you willing to give to get what you want?
2. Baltimore Gym Intimidation- A lot of people are really scared to even step foot in a gym. They feel like everyone is watching them and wondering what they are even doing there… There a lot of alternatives to Baltimore gyms. You can workout at a small private Baltimore personal training studio, workout at home, join a boot camp, or running group. There a tons of weight loss options that are far less intimidating than the gym. Stop using it as an excuse and try one of these alternatives and see which one is the best fit.
3. Not knowing where to begin- A lot of people are afraid to start a weight loss program because thye simply don’t know where to begin. The important thing is that you are doing something! You can start by setting a side 30 minutes a day to go for a walk and then you can build from there. You want to get into the habit of putting time a side for exercise. There is a lot of free information out there, so it’s not hard to find basic guidelines or programs that you can do for free.
4. Don’t have enough energy- I hear this one all of the time. The truth is, if you workout, eat right and exercise you will have more energy! I know it sounds backwards but it’s true! Just give it a try for one week and see for yourself! Energy levels is one of the first changes you will see!
5. Cant’ afford a baltimore gym membership or Personal Trainer- Go back and read the quote from #1! You have money for what you want to have money for! I had a boot camp member quit because she told me she couldn’t afford boot camp anymore. Then I saw a Facebook post she made to one of her friends about going out to a happy hour and dinner at an expensive restaurant downtown. She also convinced her friend to go with her and that she was buying! I sent her a message telling her she needs to get her priorities straight because that one night out probably cost the same as 1 month of boot camp! She said I was right and is back in boot camp by the way!
I know that not everyone can afford a Baltimore personal trainer, Baltimore boot camp or even a Baltimore gym membership. It’s still not an excuse to not exercise or workout. There is alot of free information and low cost baltimore weight loss books and programs out there!
So here is my take on excuses:
It all comes down to taking responsibility! Excuses are just an out! Stop being so easy on yourself and giving yourself an out! Take responsibility and do what you say your are going to do! The more times you say you are going to do something then don’t, the easier it becomes to do it again the next time!
This is why I believe in rewarding ourselves when we accomplish a weight loss goal or do something we say we are going to do and punishing ourselves when we don’t reach a weight loss goal or do something we say we are going to do! Print the picture below and create a goal between now and Christmas. Make sure you follow through and either reward yourself for reaching it or punish yourself for not reaching it!
So what’s your Baltimore weight loss excuse? Seriously, I want to know! Leave a comment below or on facebook letting me know what your excuse is. I am sure you are not the only one with that excuse. Let’s all put them in the comment section and then leave them there!
Talk to you soon,
Jeff

I totally agree! Since making weight loss a priority, I have seen more results in the past 2 months than I had in 2 years!
Thanks and great post!

I don’t have time is my best weight loss excuse. I have to commute 1hr each way to work and don’t usually get home till 6 or 6:30 depending on Baltimore traffic!

Some I have heard include: “I don’t like to exercise” or “I dont like to sweat” but once people start moving thier bodies they see it isnt so bad… and after a few weeks the weight loss is addictive!
