With New Years Eve just a couple of days away, I am sure that you, just like everyone else, has been thinking of what your New Years Resolutions are going to be.

 Weight loss is the number one thing people want to accomplish every New Year. But 95% give up or quit their resolution during the first three weeks!

One of the main reason most people fail at reaching their resolution is because they don’t give themselves a deadline. Or make their resolution specific.

Just saying you want to lose weight, isn’t saying much. How much do you want to lose, 1 lb, 2 lbs, 5, 10, 50? Figure out how much weight you actually want to lose and then give yourself a date to lose it by.

 I like to make mini goals. Take it 3 weeks at a time. It is not hard to stick to something for 21 days. So give yourself a goal for 21 days from now.

You should make your goal challenging enough to scare you a little, but the idea of reaching it and how that will feel and what you will be able to do once you reach it should excite you a lot!

You don’t have to do this alone. Studies have shown that you are 10 times more likely to do something you say you are going to do if you tell people or do it in a group setting. Just knowing that there are other people with the same goals and aspirations as you is really motivating.

So find a group of like minded people, tell them what your goals are and when you want to accomplish them by, then just go for it! What do you have to lose?

2010 is the year to BE UNSTOPPABLE.

    Enjoyed the post. In addition, multiple studies and empiricle evidence have indicated that visually keeping stated goals where they can be seen often and on a consistant basis can also help to ensure and encourage results.

    I look forward to future posts regarding goal implementation. Perhaps sharing particular goals you have accomplished or are in the middle of achieving, along with your process, would be very illustrative.

    so true about how helpful it is to be with a group of people who share your goals. all my endurance events (4 marathons, 2 100mi bike rides, a triathalon and countless shorter races) were all completed by me with the help and support of other athletes-in-training. many of them have now become some of my closest friends. i couldnt imagine doing all that without them! THANKS!
