The #1 Reason/Excuse People Give for not being fit is….Not Having Enough Time!

But the bottom line is we all have 24hrs in a day. You have the power to choose how you want to spend it each and every day! We all have time for what we want to have time for.

I am going to share some tips on how you can get in the best shape of your life with just 20 min. a day!  If you can just commit 20 min. a day five to six days a week I guarantee it will change your life!

#1: Exercise first thing in the Morning!

There are no good excuses for not exercising in the morning besides just not wanting to get up and do it.  The most committed people in gyms are the ones that go in the morning. I used to work in a big chain gym and you would always see the same exact people there every morning. At night it would always be different people.

If you try to workout after work there is all kinds of things that can come up during the day that seems like a great excuse not to workout. Some good ones are having a bad day at work and just too stressed out to go to the gym, my kid got in trouble at school and I have to go home and talk to them, I have to run by the grocery store to get stuff for dinner and end up spending too much time there, your friend calls you up because her boyfriend broke up with her and wants you to go shopping with her…. and the list goes on.  There is no good excuse at 5:30 or 6 am besides just not wanting to get up. So just try to get in the habit of getting up 30 min. early and getting it out of the way. Then you don’t have to think about it all day long and you can worry about all that other stuff! icon smile I know, I know, You just dont have the time...

#2: No more long boring cardio workouts!

Tired of doing hours and hours of cardio on the treadmill and not getting any results? Recent studies have proven that High Intensity Interval Training (H.I.I.T.) is much more effective at burning fat then traditional (LSD) Long Slow Distance training. The good thing for you is that you can burn just as much fat in 20 min. with HIIT as you can with an 1hr of  LSD Cardio! Basically just go as fast as you can for 1-2 min. and then recover for half the time. I will write another post on HIIT explaining it more later.  So go as hard as you can for 2 min. then recover for a min. and keep repeating this for 20 min. It doesn’t have to be on a treadmill. You can jump rope, run your stairs at your house, ride your bike or anything you want. Just do it every other day!

#3: STOP working out like a Body Builder!

Who has the time to spend 30 min. working out your biceps? Not me! Stop spending countless hours in the gym. No need for split routines for general fitness! You want to do full body workouts and compound movements every other day! A compound movement is an exercise where two or more joints are moving and you are working more than one muscle group! Doing an exercise like bicep curls doesn’t burn a lot of calories because the muscle is so small! Do pull ups instead. You will be working the biceps as well as the back and shoulders and you will be burning 5 times the amount of calories! If you don’t have any equipment at home don’t worry. I posted a 20 min. bodyweight workout that I took Jessica through. Do this every other day along with the 20 min. HIIT cardio workouts and you will be well on your way to being in the best shape of you life!
