Don’t let fall weather mean falling off your routine!

Often times fall weather means a little more than apple picking and pumpkin carving. It means we all have to dig a little deeper for the motivation we need to keep up with our fitness routine. I know, it is so much easier to stay in bed under the warm covers then get up and go to that boot camp. And the sofa after work just seems to call your name a little bit louder than in the spring and summer when all you wanted to do was be outside after a long day at the office.

Sometimes the same routine just might not work for you and the first step is being aware of that. Don’t force yourself to stick to the same fitness regimine if it just isn’t working for you right now. For example, if you keep skipping out on the morning workout, try signing up for a lunch time or afternoon class instead. Don’t get set in your ways. Switching things up may do the trick! Signing up for a fall 5k, like the Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot (http://www.greenvalleyturkeytrot.com/ Join the Fit Body Boot Camp Team!), is a great way to stay motivated. There are always plenty of great indoor classes so take a look around and see whats available. Even if you enjoy running or a specific outdoor sport, try adding one or two boot camps a week and maybe yoga or pilates. You will still have a few days to keep up with running but you won’t have to be outside for every workout. It will also keep you from getting bored while introducing you to new ways to improve your overall level of fitness.

Fall is full of fun things to do and you will certainly enjoy them even more if you are feeling happy and healthy in your skin. Don’t let cold weather be an excuse to sit around the house. Before you know it summertime will be here again! So switch up your routine, buy a new workout outfit to spark some motivation and drag yourself off that couch. Your mood and your skinny jeans will thank you for it.  Remember, don’t “fall” into the slump because it will be a lot harder to “spring” back next year.
