So, I was starting to get a little dissapointed when I saw no one was commenting on my post yesterday. Then someone told me the comment section was broken! Well, I got a ton of comments on Facebook, so I decided to write part 2 for you.

Now we all know that there is no shortage on “weight loss” or “Fitness” programs out there today. The unfortunate but true fact is that over 90% of fitness solutions fail to deliver the results they promise.

The First Thing You Need Is A Goal!

 

 It is almost impossible to get the results you are looking for if you don’t know exactly what you want! Pretty much every single person that walks into my boot camp tell me they want to “lose weight” and “tone up”. 

That’s like saying I am going downtown to eat. Meet me there. You would have no idea where I was at. What’s the first thing you put into a GPS when you are looking for directions? You put the exact address, right? Then it finds out where you are and tells you exactly how to get to where you want to be. It also tells you how long it is going to take.

Well, that is exactly what we do at my boot camp. We help you set specific goals, measurable goals and of course, deadlines to meet those goals. We also track your results every single week incase we need to “recalculate” (sorry for all the gps analogies) to get you back on track as soon as possible! The Second Thing You Need Is Motivation!

 You have to know “Why” you want to reach your goal and you have to commit to it! If you don’t know “why” you want to ahcieve something or if you don’t commit 100% you will quit as soon as it gets hard or you have a minor setback.

Here is a good example. I had this guy pretty much come running into my office with credit card in hand telling me that today is the day and that he is ready to sign up! I asked him why today and not yesterday, last week, or last month?

He said, it’s just time. I said great, but why is it time today? He said he wanted to be a good example for his kids. Thats’ great, I said, but why do you want to be a good example now?

He went on to tell me how his Grandfather died of a heart attack at the age of 52, and that his Dad died of a heart attack at the age of 50 and that he was turning 50 this weekend and he didn’t want his childre growing up without a Dad!

Now That’s powerful! Do you think he is going to quit with one minor setback? Do you think he is going to hit the snooze button and skip boot camp, no way!

So ask yourself why is it so important for you to finally “tone up” and “lose weight”. How is this going to improve the quality of your life.  How can you take all of the new found confidence, energy, and positivity and apply it to your life and also give back by inspiring your friends and family to do the same!

First is Laura…. She is so awesome, and inspiring. She defines the word perserverence! She never gives up and has accomplished so much! She just busted through a plateau and now has lost over 100lbs!

 Laura has an amazing story! She has now completed numerous running races, including the Baltimore Half Marathon last year!

Laura is now leading our Couch to 5k Running Group which will be starting up shortly! (Totally free to join that group by the way!)

So if you are feeling like you can’t do it, or that it won’t work for you for whatever reason, I suggest you find Laura at boot camp and speak with her!  

 

Next is Brad…. He has to be the funniest guy I know. Brad defines determination! I gave him a pull up challenge to win a t-shirt. He went from 11 pull ups to 18 pull ups in 2 weeks! He also went from 221 lbs to 185lbs in just a few short months!

 Brad is one of the easiest clients to work with. He follows everything you tell him to do to a tee.

He just did the workouts and ate what I told him to and the results came, and they came fast!

 

 

Anyway, I’m not showing you these photos to brag about how good my boot camp is. I am showing you these photos to show you what is possible with the right motivation.

Both Brad and Laura knew why, without a doubt, why they wanted to reach their goals. So with the right program and the right motivation this is what’s possible and more!

Next You Have To Have A Plan!

Do you want to crawl, walk, run, or fly to your destination? Each one requires a different level of commitment. I would rather you get there a little late then not at all. Just decide and commit and everything else will take care of itself.

I recommend a minimum of 5 hours of exercise a week! That is only 3% of your time. This is a minimum! If you can’t commit 3% of your time to reaching your goal then you probably aren’t ready to commit.

You also have to commit to changing your eating habits. I would say 90% of the people I ask how their diet is, they say, “it’s healthy”. If it’s so healthy then what’s the problem? In my boot camp we help you come up with a nutrition plan and help you make subtle changes that are really effective in burning fat.

Accountability Increases Success By More Than 100%

Everyone needs someone to be accountable to. Boot camp provides that. Not just with me and my instructors but also with the friends you will have in boot camp.  They will definitely get on you for missing a workout!

Another thing I highly recommend doing is letting everyone you know, (family, friends, co-workers) exactly what your goals are and WHEN your are going to reach them!

This will definitely hold you accountable because everytime you see them the first thing they are going to ask is how are you doing and have you reached your goal yet?

So go tell everyone your goals! Ok, this blog post is getting long….. got to move on!

I am going to go really fast through the last 3 principles because honestly the first 4 are the most important. I always get asked “What’s the best diet…. What’s the best thing for cardio….. What’s the best way to strength train”.

My answer is always the same and never what anyone wants to hear. The best one is the one that you do and commit to and stay consistent with. Most programs and diets out there will get you results, if you do them and stick to them.

Our Workouts are good, really good, but if you don’t commit and stay consistent they will only take you so far. Any fitness professional or anyone that has worked out for some time should be able to put you through an effective work out to get your results.

You need to find a place where they motivate you, inspire you and help you become the best you that you can be. (That’s a lot of yous!) This is what we strive to do at Fit Body Boot Camp! There is no secret workout, it’s all about EFFORT and how much you are willing to give to yourself!

You can do this on your own, but I can tell you it is more fun with friends and with our help and the right attitude and commitment you can be like Brad, Laura and the other 108 members we have you too can be UNSTOPPABLE!
