They say it takes a lot to succeed…. – Baltimore Boot Camps

… And will cost you even more to fail!

To succeed in life or in fitness takes a lot of effort, resilience, and persistence, doesnt’ it? We have to commit to it every single day. We have to stretch outside our comfort zones so we can continue to grow and move forward. It’s hard work.

But that’s ok, it’s supposed to be hard. You don’t get stronger when life is easy. It’s when you struggle and move on that you build strength. And fitness is no different.

If it was easy, everyone would be walking around fit and it would be the norm and it wouldn’t mean as much. Whenever you see a really fit person you instantly have respect for that person because you know how much it has cost them to look that way.

There is so much that is involved in being fit and healthy. You have the cost of training either at a gym or with a trainer or a boot camp. There is the time involved in training that you spend away from your family. There is cost of buying healthy food and the time to prepare it. There is cost in supplements. I could go on but I think you get the point.

It is a big commitment and investment. But I can tell you this, it’s worth it! I don’t know what I would do with out my health. Some of my best memories over the past 4-5 years are from being active.

I have climbed numerous mountains (Kilimanjaro, Long’s Peak, Mt. Sherman, Mt. Massive, Mt. Elbert), ran the San Diego Marathon, Numerous Half Marathons (Nashville, Baltimore 2X’s, Philadelphia 2X’s, B&A,), a 200 mile 24hr relay race from Gettysburg to D.C., Completed three  100 mile bike rides (Sea gull Century 2x’s, Civil War Century), gone rock climbing in the Garden of the Gods and Boulder Creek Canyon and the list goes on.

With out my health and fitness I would not be as happy of a person as I am today! I feel that each of us have the obligation to be the best YOU that you can be and to help the people you care about do the same.

Sure, it can be tough to get up and running and into a new routine and program. And when things go south on you and your not getting the results you want right away, it’s easy to throw in the towel.

But the cost of NOT being the best YOU is far more expensive!

Just imagine what your life will be like 5 years from now if you don’t tough it out.  Where will you be? The same? Will you possibly go backwards and be worse?

When I look back at everything I have accomplished and have done in my life I can’t imagine what it would be like to not be healthy and fit.

To me, the cost of not being fit is immeasurable. It would mean living a life unfulfilled. It would mean being trapped in a body you hate. Not being able to do the things you love with the people you love.

So, which path will you choose? Will you join me and the others who strive to be the best YOU, you can be and help others do the same? Or will you take the “easy” road and settle for less? Happily blob out on the TV and try to convince yourself that your different and that it won’t work for you?

We both know the answer, don’t we?

It’s only too late if you don’t start right now! So get in the game and kick some butt! I don’t care what you do. Whether it’s joining your local gym or boot camp, or just walking around your neighborhood. Just start somewhere and get moving!

Do me a favor and leave me a comment on how fitness has played a positive role in your life!

Committed to your fitness success,

Jeff
